Women's MMA: Ronda Rousey vs Miesha Tate

On March 3rd Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate are putting the world on notice with a championship title fight on Strikeforce; women's mixed martial arts has arrived. Until fairly recently the sport of MMA was traditionally dominated by men, while women competing in mixed martial arts went largely unnoticed and unappreciated. This may have been warranted in the earliest days of the sport due to the lack of female participation, but that is certainly no longer the case. Take a look into any training session at any mixed martial arts academy around the world and you will see women in large numbers training side by side with men. This is how it should be. Mixed martial arts are for everyone; male or female, old or young, athletic or nonathletic. There is no room for discrimination or chauvinism in this beautiful sport. If you are one of those old-school, close minded people who thinks that MMA is a "men's sport", go watch Gina Carano vs. Cris Cyborg Santos, and then see if you still think the same. These women are serious martial artists with serious skills, and it is long overdue that they start getting the recognition they deserve by fans and mainstream media. One major MMA organization that has been a great supporter of women's mixed martial arts is Strikeforce, which is the first major promotion in the U.S. to have a female fight as a main event. On March 3rd Strikeforce will return with a women's main event pitting former Judo Olympic medalist Ronda Rousey versus grappling specialist Miesha Tate. If you haven't had the opportunity to see either of these women compete before, you are in for a real treat on March 3rd. Both these women are warriors, and you can guarantee they are going to bring it every time they step in the cage. Get ready men, it's time to share the spotlight with our female warriors.
