Samart has been voted by the Thai media as one of the 3 greatest fighters in the history of Muay Thai. He is widely viewed as the greatest Muay Thai fighter of all time by the Thai public. Samart is the most famous World Champion to come out of the Sityodtong Gym in Thailand and was a former WBC Boxing World Champion too.
Background
The legendary Sityodtong Gym is widely recognized as the most respected Muay Thai Gym in Thailand for producing the most number of Lumpinee Muay Thai World Champions in history. Kru Yodtong Senanan, the head of Sityodtong Gym, is the Grandfather of modern Muay Thai. The Royal Family of Thailand awarded Kru Yodtong Senanan with the Lifetime Master Achievement Award for being one of the most influential Grandmasters in the history of Muay Thai. Samart Payakaroon is his most famous student.
Evolve Mixed Martial Arts is the largest overseas branch of the Sityodtong Gym.
