Gracie Breakdown: Pettis Submits Henderson
This past weekend at UFC 164 Anthony Pettis shocked the MMA
world with an amazing 1st round armbar submission over Benson
Henderson. The victory crowned
Pettis the new UFC Lightweight Champion and brought the reign of Benson
Henderson to a dramatic conclusion.
While it is not all that shocking that Pettis beat Henderson, the manner
in which he did so is. Pettis is
known primarily for his dynamic striking attacks, and Henderson just recently
earned his BJJ black belt. If
anything, this fight provides a big lesson to all fighters about the
effectiveness of BJJ and its ability to end fights from anywhere at
anytime.
