A Tribute to MMA Legend: Fedor Emelianenko
Earlier this year, Fedor Emelianenko, one of the all time
greatest heavyweights in the history of MMA, announced his official retirement
from the sport. Nicknamed “The
Last Emperor”, Fedor at the peak of his career was widely considered to be “the
baddest man on the planet”. For
nearly 10 years he remained unbeaten, cleaning out the heavyweight division
with his rare combination of one punch knockout power and a vicious ground
game. He strung together an
impressive 27 straight victories, the majority of which came by KO, TKO, or
submission. When he was not
competing in MMA, he was representing his home country of Russia in their
national sport Sambo, winning 7 Russian National Championships and 3 World
Championships.
Although still only 35 years old, Fedor has earned his place
as one of the all time greats in MMA history. Have we truly seen the last of Fedor, or will he return for
one final run at glory? Only time
will tell.
In the meantime, let us pay tribute to his remarkable career
with the below documentary, which gives us a rare look into the mind of Fedor.
