UFC Legends Series

On April 5, 2005 two relatively unknown fighters by the names of Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin squared off in the UFC Octagon for what is widely considered to be one of the greatest back and forth wars in the history of the UFC.  The performance could not have come at a better time either.  It took place on the finale of the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter at a time when the sport of MMA was in desperate need of exposure.  The fight is now credited as one of the tipping points that brought the UFC into the mainstream.

Roots of Fight recently released a short video about this legendary showdown as part of their UFC Legends Series.  It gives an excellent look inside the minds of Bonnar, Griffin, and those who were there to witness this part of MMA history.  Check out the video below.  Interestingly, Stephan Bonnar will have another opportunity to make UFC history this weekend when he faces Anderson Silva at UFC 153.  A win for Bonnar would undoubtedly be one of the greatest upsets in the history of MMA.
