UFC 162: History in Focus
UFC 162 is now firmly behind us, but the talk surrounding it
most certainly is not. In fact, it
is unlikely that UFC 162 will ever be forgotten, at least not until the now confirmed rematch between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman goes down.
As anyone who hasn’t been living under a rock now knows, at
UFC 162 Chris Weidman dethroned Anderson Silva, the greatest champion in the
history of the UFC. He did so in
spectacular and somewhat controversial fashion. Nonetheless, the reign of Anderson Silva over the UFC
middleweight division is now officially over, and MMA fans around the world are
left wondering what is next.
The answer is a rematch. Until Chris Weidman fights Anderson Silva again, very few
will be able to believe that Weidman’s victory was anything more than a fluke,
a lucky punch. Luckily, on
December 28th of this year the rematch is all set to go down, and we
can expect it to be the biggest fight in UFC history.
