The Thrilla in Manila

As ONE FC: Pride of a Nation gets set to rock the Smart Araneta Coliseum on August 31st, let us take a look back at the legendary boxing match that forever earned the Smart Araneta Coliseum a place in sporting history.  The date was October 1st, 1975.  The fight was between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.  After splitting their first two fights, this was to be the rubber match that ended the very bitter and public rivalry between two of boxing’s greatest heavyweights.  The fight lasted an incredibly grueling 14 rounds in sweltering 38-degree heat, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest boxing matches in the history of the sport.
