ONE FC Pride of a Nation: Main Event
We received the unfortunate news this week that Evolve Fight
Team member Shinya Aoki will no longer be headlining the ONE FC: Pride of a Nation event.
The good news is there are still 11 incredibly exciting fights on the
card. Replacing Shinya as the main event
in Manila will be Bibiano Fernandes vs. Gustavo Falciroli.
Bibiano Fernandes is a highly accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
black belt and the reigning DREAM bantamweight champion. He comes into this fight having won 10 of his
last 11 outings, and is widely considered to be one of the top bantamweight
mixed martial artists in the world today.
Gustavo Falciroli is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt,
although not as well decorated as Fernandes.
He is the reigning CFC bantamweight champion and is coming off an
impressive submission victory at ONE FC:
Battle of Heroes back in February.
On paper, Fernandes is the heavy favorite to win this
one. Nicknamed “The Flash”, Fernandes is
one of the most explosive bantamweights in the world, which could pose problems
for the much bigger Falciroli. The key
for Falciroli will be to utilize his considerable size advantage to wear
Fernandes down and negate his speed. It
will be very interesting to see the strategies employed by these two very talented
mixed martial artists. Whoever emerges
victorious will likely be in line for a title shot in the near future. Check out the ONE FC preview for the fight
